Mayela takes great pride in her guesthouse and everything is spotless. There is access to the kitchen if you want to prepare your own food/drink. Some tea is provided. The accommodation is an easy 8 minute walk to the center of town. Most importantly, Mayela is kind beyond belief! Very sweet and caring. If you are booking in San Jose and you're lucky enough to find availability here, book it! You will be very glad you did. Note that the address in Booking.com only shows the street name; the actual address is 1110 Avenida 14.

The warm water in the shower could be a bit hotter and stronger. Due to the configuration of these old houses (rooms surrounding a central courtyard), and the hard building surfaces, they are very echoey. I found this to be the case in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and of course, Costa Rica. Bring earplugs to this part of the world, and eye masks too.

Beautiful traditional Spanish home with tile, woodwork and high ceilings. Loved the wild birds and trees on the patio. Comfy bed. Good sheets and bath towels. Nicely decorated and clean. Availability of kitchen.

Would have appreciated another small towel for face and a washcloth. Neighborhood not as safe.

Such a charming house with lot of character. Great location close to downtown if you’re looking for that. The place is immaculately clean with access to a beautiful big kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea. Large and comfortable private washroom. The best part is the host: Mayela. She’s helpful, warm and communicative. She help us to find a great parking lot for the car

Close to a busy road, but it stops at night and gets quiet.

Showers did not work properly, cold water only unless you wanted to adjust the electric heater for hours. And with a wind from outside it was like there was a door slamming, all day and night. So no sleep 🥱.
