Shower in my upstairs room was ok, passable, just. Mattress quite odd, firm, unlike anything I've really slept on before. Slept ok.

On our arrival there was no proper reception just a hatch opening into a very disorganised office. However, when we found someone(the owner?) he was very nice and showed us to our room. The whole building is 'tired'. The access to the room was dark and dated with a few pieces of furniture and a book case with a few old books on. Nothing relating to the locality. The room itself was clean, but obviously hadn't been updated for a considerable time and look liked it had been furnished from random items from an auction. The pictures on the walls were old and bore no relation to the pub or locality. One was a view of Fairford in Gloucestershire and there was a mirror above the bed that would have been better suited in an oriental restaurant. There was very basic tea making facilities. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to eat at the Feathers and we said yes, expecting a decent dining room and service. When we went downstairs we found our choices were to eat in the public bar or in the lounge, where there was a large television showing a football match at full volume. Not the quiet evening meal with my wife I expected. In the morning we went for breakfast, which strangely was in a large dining room, which hadn't been open the night before. This was nice but like something out of the 1960's. We were served by a very nice lady, but she was clad in a track suit, body warmer and flip flops. The breakfast was not bad. When we came to leave we again had to hunt someone down and was eventually dealt with by the cleaner, who didn't seem very happy and really shouldn't share her medical issues with visitors!
