Maintenance and cleaning had a lot to be desired

The room was surprisingly spacious, and there was no traffic noise despite being located on a busy road. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the bathroom included a bath as well as a shower. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The TV only had Freeview, but it was all tuned in properly. The wifi worked ok, albeit fairly slowly. Shops are all quite close by. Bus station isn't far either.

As I rather expected, there was a fair bit of loud music emanating through the floor on Friday and Saturday evening, although this did end at a reasonable hour. Less expected were the loud bursts of music around 6:30am - 9am on Sunday morning. The wifi works after a fashion, but was almost unusable in the evenings. As such, any kind of iPlayer on the TV is unwatchable in the evenings. There was no heating apart from a portable electric radiator which frankly didn't do much in a large, single-glazed room, although the quilts were very warm. The window was always very wet. There was no view at all.

Rome was filthy on arrival, with rubbish still in bin and bed side cabinets, dust on all cabinets and around radiators, loose wires in bathroom, sheets on bed filthy with no mattress protectors on either bed. Gentleman behind bar had a deplorable attitude and was very rude to our daughter when she went to complain. Manager on the other hand had a better attitude.
