The very warm welcome, despite us turning up early, damp and muddy, was very much appreciated. Greg had a fire going in the bar because he expected us to need one. He stuffed our smelly boots with paper and put them on the boiler to dry them. Everyone was warm and friendly throughout. The building is full of character, the bar is warm and cosy, the food and beer were great and the room was clean and comfortable. A great and memorable stop over with exceptional hospitality.

Fabulous location in Hubberholme, bang on The Dales Way. We knew we were at the right place when we saw our case deposited by the luggage transfer service standing on the terrace. Once we checked in we were told the nuances of steps and head risks so we could move our case into our pre-booked room. Breakfast service very friendly and helpful - you can order a packed lunch.

The lock to our room didn’t work very well at all - but hopefully this will be fixed as we told Greg that the lock needed replacing.

We received a lovely warm welcome at this charming, characterful, quaint, historic inn with literary connections in the idyllic hamlet of Hubberholme. Dinner was lovely and breakfast, with locally made organic granola and yogurt on offer, was excellent.

This is an historic inn in a relatively remote part of the Dales, so it's good to be aware - which the new owners had highlighted - that, for example, the plumbing could be a little 'quirky', as befits a building of its age. That said, it did not spoil our enjoyment of an all too short stay in this charming inn. We loved it! The owners who had been at the helm for less than a year, plan a series of renovations..
