Room was lovely, a good size. Food was also very good.

Mattress wasn't very comfortable, could feel all the springs and there was excessive noise from the bar below our room including playing a piano, shouting and screaming which went on until well past midnight. The pub website says the bar closes at 10pm so we weren't expecting there to be so much noise so late. Customers seemed to leave the bar at around 11:30pm but then they all hung out in the car park below our bedroom window making lots of noise for another hour or so (and this was in January when it was freezing outside!) before finally leaving. For a little country pub it was very rowdy.

Property perfect not to far away yet far enough for genuine time out.

We have stayed here often so it’s familiar territory. We always get a great welcome from Ash, staff, and the locals in the bar!

Bedroom too hot and radiator thermostat not responsive.

The building is full of character. We checked in after our course at old field forge. The pub was full and had a lovely atmosphere. Heard it’s the locals go to. They served food till late which was very handy and it was great sitting in the restaurant, relaxing and the food was good. You can tell straight away they care about giving good service. Our room was above the bar area, so we were prepared for it to be noisy until close. Which was fine with us because they were playing Christmas songs on piano and singing together. It felt very sweet. Once it got to close it went silent and was silent for the rest of the night. The room was great. They’d left a birthday suprise of Prosecco on the bed with a card saying happy birthday. A very sweet touch! The bathroom was super spacious. It included breakfast too and again the same attentive service and lovely calm setting to have a meal. I’d recommend staying there.

Only factor to anyone would be the noise below in the evening, but it doesn’t make sense to book a pub if that’s not for you.

Gorgeous room with lots of country-pub character, and the room had lots of lovely little touches like bubble bath and milk for tea in the fridge. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
