Firehouse Inn

The upstairs was slightly quirky and that made it nice. Our bed was comfortable. Kitchenette was better stocked with dishes etc than we expected.

Difficult on arrival, no sign at all for an inn only for a restaurant and the door is round the back and we ended up asking at the bar, felt unwelcoming in general. The stairs are steep and poorly lit so hard to get cases up safely. Only seemed to have one exit which felt unsafe as it was down the stairs and past the kitchen. No staff onsite during the night so glad there was a group of us, would have been unnerving if I was travelling alone. Location and parking felt a little dodgy with some people hanging around the building next door.

Room was big, clean and comfortable

You enter through an unmarked door from a dimly lit parking lot. The parking lot really needs repairs. There is no staff at the inn, and there are no room numbers. An envelope is left for you containing your room key with instructions to find your room like "across from lockers" or "first door on the right." Why not just use room numbers? Guest rooms are on the second floor, accessible only by stairs. There is no elevator.

The room was beautiful with lovely furnishings, spotless and the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The host was super and the restaurant fabulous, highly recommend.

Size of the rooms and the nostalgia of the building.

Bathroom is quite small and the shower not very powerful. Lighting was awkward to work out and it fel quite dark.

Staff amazing and friendly, hotel and bar full of character.
