"A museum with rooms and common spaces furnished with genuine period antiques."

9.0

This is a special place to disconnect and relax. It's 3 miles from the nearest paved road. The building has been beautifully renovated without losing its pioneer character. It's a museum with rooms and common spaces furnished with genuine period antiques. Some of the exterior walls date from the 1860s. Despite that, the plumbing works well, the beds are comfortable and the common kitchen facilities are completely modern. I hope it can stay this way a while longer.

It's a 20 minute drive to the nearest restaurants. There's no cell service.

"If you are up for a wonderful, rustic, out of the way place for a couple of days, this fits the bill"

10.0

It is a unique and wonderful experience to stay here. It's an old (about 60 years old, I think) farmhouse, filled with wonderful furniture and decorations lovingly collected by the owners ovder the years. The house is rustic, yes, and showing the wear and tear one would expect, but it is just a delightful place to stay. There are no services, i.e. no internet or cell service, and you must take your own food, as there is no town nearby. The road in is rough, but once you are there it is great fun to go for walks and enjoy the spectacular setting.

In a perfect world, I'd have liked to be able to use a cell phone, and internet would be nice. If there is an emergency, the owners will let you use their phone, so there's no danger of being unreachable, but we are all accustomed to having all our toys these days, aren't we?
