30 minutes S of Sacramento, The owners of Freeport Wind Country Inn were welcoming, helpful and have renovated and created simple, charming period inspired rooms. No cute chatskis to clutter the space. Comfy bed and plenty of room, there are spa bathtubs in each room. In the Sacramento River Delta region, away from the highway, you can easily venture out for a day trip or walk along the levees. Last 2 hours before Sunset are stunning, with Vineyards on your right, and the waterway and egrets on the left. There was a local fisherman's bar across the parking lot for a great steak, brunch on the weekend, as well as weekday breakfast from 7 onward in the nearby Golf Course Pub. The 2nd day we drove S to Cosumnes River Preserve, where we saw huge flocks of Snow Geese and wintering ducks and geese. No pesky keys or cards to lose, the front door had a numberical code I took a photo of for easy in and outs.

The property was close to shopping and restaurants. It did not seem dirty.

I don’t like to give bad reviews, but I want to be fair to others considering this property. It might have been nice at some point, but it is has not been maintained. Don’t be fooled or drawn in by the name “Wine Country Inn” It does not live up to the website pics, or the booking rating. TV was super old and had no cable connectivity and we could not make it work, HVAC system broken, horrible WiFi, everything dated…furniture (bed super soft), holes in wall, cracked floor tiles, rust and a window ac unit that was secured in with duct tape, stains on the carpet floor. Rodent repellers plugged into the walls. No one in reception, we were texted entry instructions. Outside peeling siding and lots of rusted junk in the yard. Not even up to Motel 6 standards, way over priced. Sorry!

friendly hosts, great location for a wedding nearby. close to bar grill w decent food, close to a golf course. Very close to Modern Sacramento but you feel like you're a long ways away very nice bait shop across the street too

the 2 nights were nearly $500 & i it is quite aged from the bedding to the decor, deferred maintenance, unkept grounds, no continental breakfast, thin walls and humming noises, poor TV w antenna only reception.
