"A charming and unique experience in an ancient building – delightful staff, and a friendly welcome."

5.0

This room is in a charming old Tudor pub, up in the garrett, so it is very quaint with uneven floors. To get to the top floor, you climb a practically vertical spiral staircase and haul yourself up. The location is stunning with a beautiful terrace overlooking the river Severn with excellent views of the bridge: there are plenty of tables and chairs so it’s perfect for sipping cool wine or beer on a summer’s evening. It’s a healthy and brisk walk up cartway to the old town. There is a lovely big bath and a nice bathroom and a very comfy bed, but the ceilings are incredibly low so I had to stoop. The location is excellent and the staff were delightful, welcoming and friendly.

There was no breakfast included, and the kitchen stopped serving pizzas at 6 pm, although the pub stayed open for drinks until about 8 pm. The room is very tired and when they locked up at night, I think I was the only person in the building – it was quite scary one night when the power went off! The Wi-Fi isn’t very good and kept cutting out, so I used up my data allowance very rapidly. The bathroom fittings need replacing – the sealant around the bath has peeled away and the loo cistern was cracked. The basin plug didn’t have a chain and got stuck so that I couldn’t pull it out!

"Nice old fashion pub, with great grub and nice rooms."

7.0

Spacious room, very in keeping with the 16th century surroundings. Nice large comfortable bed. nice view over the river.

Mirror in bathroom was broken at the corners and not very secure to the wall. Ceramic control lever on shower was broken and sharp, requires replacing. Even though I speak with a thick Scottish accent, staff would not except Scottish notes.

"Lovely Dog Friendly Pub and Rooms"

Excellent location over looking the river, great bar with good choice of beers and lagers, plenty of history in the place and crucially dog friendly bedrooms

Just a shame no breakfast facilities

"An enjoyable couple of days away"

Bridgnorth an attractive and interesting town. Breakfast not included, but good cafes nearby.

The supernatural phenomena were a little unnerving...
