We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and the food was of a good standard. The service was very friendly and pleasant too.

After viewing the "Three in a Bed" Winner Plaque we had high expectations. We booked our room last minute and believe it was one of the last rooms available. On first glance the room looked very nice, but then when we went to plug in our phone charger we could see how mucky the room was - dust on the skirting boards and that then highlighted that the carpet was vacuumed but could do with a good wash. When putting on the main ceiling light there was a bulb not working and the fitting seemed to have been distorted. Nevertheless there was enough light in the room. It was just one of those things that you would think would have been checked. The next morning when taking a shower I noticed that the water was not draining well in the shower. The cover over the plug was moveable, so I flipped it over to reveal lots of dirt and hair stuck in the plug. This was the first time using the shower in the room, so this must have been missed before letting out the room. There was also black mould around the shower base and near the shower doors. On inspection, the shower head also had black mould on it. Not really what you would expect. I know this is an old building, but the rooms have been modernised so this shouldn't be a problem. Clearly they have a problem with cleaning staff. It is such a shame, as this is a lovely venue, but just needs extra attention to general cleaning.

This is a lovely place to stay, the staff were helpful. The location for us was good as we stop here to visit friends and relative and being close to the A500 gave me easy access to major roads. The bar was well stocked and served a nice selection of beers. After a quiet night in the Weston suite we had a well prepared and cooked full engish. Would stay again.

We were dissapointed that the suite was not prepared, the room was stale and most surfaces had a moderate covering of dust, the ceiling and corners had historical spider webs that had accumalated dust. My wife being an aracnophobic insisted i check the bed, sadly again there was a good tangle of old webs behind the bed head and a couple of residents, hastily disposed of. I complained to the reception and she came out straight away dusted and polished the room and left a note for housekeeping. By chance we met the house keeper the following day and they were not aware of any problems with our room, she explained that she was going home in 5 minutes and could'help us, she also explained that she had made management aware that all rooms needed deep cleaning, so may be a management issue. The small expresso coffee maker was faulty and emtied the boiling water over the desk top, judging by the damage to the desk surface and stained carpet this was not its first time. I hope that management will recreate the same standard as they did on' Four in a bed' 2025. Then i would certainly come back. The room was too dark for my liking, proberbly why no one saw the webbing.

Room was so dirty on arrival - thick layers of dust and detritus in bathroom. Processed guacamole from a pot is not crushed avocado - sorry but it’s not! Dollop of cheap margarine also made breakfast inedible. Shame as small fixes for big gains Nice touches of fresh peonies on table and friendly staff doing the best they can with cheap produce- Management do better for them! Oh and weed and sweep cigarettes from outdoor patio! We will be back to see how you’ve done on this😊

Breakfast was nice

Room was filthy particularly the shower cubicle which was full of orange mold, got moved to another room shower was equally filthy and included a dripping tap. Bed was lumpy and room cold. Windows were mouldy.

Convenient location on a trip from the south of England to Scotland. Comfortable bed Some decor was ok Good value for money

There were stains on toilet door, possibly blood. Shower cubicle was dirty, room needed to be hoovered. Other areas around the hotel were not clean. Food was mediocre.

Good value for money. Food was good. Staff friendly....Location good.

Can't say anything we didn't like.
