DKThe Jolly Sailor is an old local pub in a fascinating area. Why a Sailors Pub so far from the sea? Turns out that even here, the tides have a big effect on the river Ouse, which runs past nearby, and there was plenty of maritime trade and sailors long ago. The whole area oozes of history - yet is ‘just’ an ordinary small town now. ANd the Jolly Sailor is one of the old pubs.
We arrived on Halloween and everywhere was busy! But Cathy took care of us and found us somewhere to eat.
