Murray Arms Hotel and Seafood Restaurant, Orkney

The Seafood restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent with several fresh catch options every day and an exceptional seafood platter with Orkneys freshest and best seafood. The seafood platter and our waitress Christina was the best part of our stay she was so fun and bubbly.

On arrival there was a bit of a wait as the staff were on the telephone which would have been fine but the owner was sitting in the lounge and could have helped out! The room was small and cramped as was the ensuite. We were in the eaves so the sloping ceiling didn't help. There was a dormer window with a blackout blind - essential for the 4am sunrise or it would have been if it had stayed down. For the £200 price tag it was certainly not value for money. The breakfast had no gluten free or decaf coffee other than instant sachets! (Fortunately there's n excellent cafe just up the road - Robertsons) I asked for some cheese with the scrambled eggs and it was the powdery pre-grated kind you buy in supermarkets. The smoked salmon with scrambled egg came as big chunks to the side. For the price tag I really would expect more attention to detail.

The choice and quality of the breakfast was excellent. The location was just what I required. The staff friendly and helpful. It was all nice and clean , the bedroom had plenty of towels, and a well stocked basket of bottled water, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.

Qu'il faille prendre le bateau pour y arriver, cela n'était pas prévu et on l'a raté. Donc nous avons trouvé autre chose.

We liked everything. The staff were outstanding, the rooms spotless. The food perfectly outstanding.
