Castle Inn by Greene King Inns

Very friendly and helpful staff, good location

Room was on the road so noisy early morning and only a privacy blind so woke up early with the daylight

The room decor and facilities were great. Really good bathroom, with lovely towels, big heated towel rail which kept the bathroom nice and warm and lots of hot water from a powerful shower head. Lots of power sockets for chargers, hairdryer etc. Also had an iron and ironing board which was useful. The breakfast was fab, and we ate in the hotel both evenings. The food was very good quality, and very reasonably priced.

The passing traffic noise. We didn't realise that our bedroom would be directly off the street (I think these rooms may have been a barn in a previous life). The traffic noise was really loud and also there were tables and chairs directly outside our room in a kind of small beer garden. When we came back to our room late afternoon we had to ask people to move their chairs so that we could open our bedroom door and they could see directly into our room. So lack of privacy and the noise was not particularly pleasant.

We visit frequently and always enjoy it their. Julie the house keeper was brilliant.

We have stayed in rooms Hadden and Hassop before but the Bakewell room was above kitchen and was noisey with staff and extractor fan ,When we come back to The Castle we wouldnt want that room.

The hotel was small and clean and warm and comfortable. The breakfast was very basic but ok.

There was a light up fire alarm above the bed. The wallpaper was peeling off. It was very expensive for a basic hotel.
