We always book this place when visiting Bakewell. It's clean and fit for purpose and the staff are always friendly.

I was here for a sponsored walk the next day, the staff had already reserved me a small table by the window for dinner even though I arrived quite late. They let me order food while checking in so I just went and dropped my bag in the very generously proportioned room and came down to a very short wait for my food to be delivered. Excellent beer on tap to wash it down. They knew I was checking out very early so made arrangements for me to drop the key through the letter box on my way out. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Nothing really apart from the car park was a little cramped but I think that was because they had a couple of large tables for dinner.

We were checked in by somebody who were behind the bar, quite a nice man and very helpful. We later had a nice meal which was good value and a couple of drinks. Breakfast the next morning was very good and the lady who served us was extremely friendly. I believe she had only just joined from Buxton. I own a pub and would be very happy to have her work for me. She’s a credit.

I think my only criticism would be that the rooms were a little tired and there were a couple of stains on the bedding but really nothing to worry about.
