The Brownlow Arms Inn

The hotel and its beautiful location were lovely. The food was wonderful both for breakfast and dinner. But what really made the difference was that the staff were so welcoming and helpful. I have severe mobility problems and was apprehensive about how I could stay in a hotel but the staff went out of their way to make our stay easy and comfortable. The separate annex bedroom with ensuite and its own car parking was a godsend, and we look forward to staying at the Brownlow Arms again!

What made this stay exceptional was the warmth of the welcome that I (and as far as I could see, every other guest) received from Lorraine. My room was beautifully decorated and had pretty much everything I might have wanted (including water, tea, coffee, ironing board and an electric fan). The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotlessly clean and spacious with a bath and shower. I loved both the food and the decor in the dining room and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

The age of the listed windows in Room 2 means that they don't open - not a problem in early March but something to consider if staying in hot weather.

The meal in the restaurant was very good, the decor is classy and tasteful

For £185 a night i had expected a larger room and only found out too late the bed is only 1m50 ( king) and not super king which you would expect We were put at this price point. If you like a soft ish mattress you will be ok but i woke with back ache. The radiator in the bathroom wasnt working. It took 3 attempts to get the v busy bar tender to establish that they knew it wasnt working, would we like to change room. Well yes… except the new bedroom shown had no radiator and nor did its bathroom ( the staff agreed they coukdnt see any)- but it had a portable oil heater which we took back to ours. Compensation was offered- the 2 half pints we had ordered were knocked off the bill.
