The Chequers Inn

Absolutely lovely stay. The hosts were amazing and the locals were so friendly. We did not feel out of place. The food was gorgeous as we booked in for Sunday Lunch with my Father-in-Law. In his words at the age of 93..the best Sunday lunch he had had since the age of 25! My dog Teddy was so welcomed by all the staff and hosts. We loved our stay. Thank you.

The fact that the hosts were leaving the next week. 😪 We decided when visiting family in Darlington we would stay there again however we would need to see reviews after new management. We do know where to go for the nice food again as they were taking thier chefs with them!

Breakfast was poor. No juice or cereal - choice of eggs was either fried or scrambled - I opted for scrambled, which were overdone for me, which I understand is a personal preference. Coffee could have been any warm drink, no taste. Am bc sure the website said they were open Sunday evening but we returned to an empty property but rear door was open and we had a key anyway..

Staff were pleasant and friendly and rooms are clean and spacious, breakfast was on time and good.

Building closed and locked when we arrived at 15:00 (check in from 14:00) tried phoning but no answer. Eventually let in at 16:00, not told that the pub wasn't serving evening meals that week until we arrived, no recommendation for anywhere local to eat. Overall did the job but felt odd.

Excellent, they held back on the bar as I arrived late and the locals were very welcoming and friendly. Very near to Croft Circuit which was perfect for my trackday the following day after a great breakfast at the hotel.
