Omgeving bied niet veel

Our hosts were absolutely fabulous and very accommodating. We were able to enjoy company with friends and everything about our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. We certainly will stay again and recommend the Chequers Inn to friends and family. The breakfast was great and plentiful and the staff kind and lovely, especially Les and Lorraine.

Proximity to a Croft Race circuit, Nice and quiet location.

Breakfast No choice of cereals or milk. And cooked portions were not great size. About two teaspoons of baked beans for example.

The rooms, as before, are very clean. The pub which we have stayed in often en route north is now run by Marston’s and not the family pub it was. The menu, therefore is adequate and enjoyable and fine for first time visitors, but for return guests, like ourselves we were very disappointed in this more standard pub grub, rather than the very varied and delicious options when under family ownership. Breakfast too was, as before, freshly cooked, but more limited than previously. I appreciate this review is more for repeat visitors, but we feel worth noting.

Being under new management appears to have caused liaising difficulties between The Chequers Inn and Booking.com.We paid through booking.com, but staff on arrival had no record of the payment they said. However, on showing the evidence we had received from booking.com i.e. notification of payment, the staff member took a photo and indicated this would be adequate she hoped. Not had this experience before. We also very much missed the anticipated menu of good home cooking and varied choice as on the previous menu., when family run.

Charged extra for dog even though we had made aware when booking. Drinks very very expensive.
