"Perfect stay for coast to coast cycle"

Comfortable & clean accommodation. Stayed here whilst cycling coast to coast and they had secure bike storage in a locked shed. Would recommend

Really good facilities for storing bikes. Good breakfast. Phone up the day before to make sure we were booked for an evening meal.

If you're cycling the C2C, it is a long way downhill from Parkhead Station.

"Beautiful part of the world, shame the rooms weren't up to much."

6.0

The location of this place was perfect for us. The rooms were clean and the staff super helpful. The supply of coffee pods and machine was a huge bonus. Great coffee. If you do stay, check out the Baa pub on a Friday night. It's just down the road on the left as you come out of the Derwent. If you get there around 6.30 you get a free food!

I suppose I'm a bit of a hypocrite. I want to support local business, but I had to use this booking site to book it. Their website didn't seem to fully work. You could get onto their page for bookings, but it didn't show any availability on the dates we wanted, but on Booking.com it did?? So top tip, call them, as it will be cheaper. We paid £331 for three nights via this site, and as I found out later, if we had gone direct it would have been a lot cheaper. Which says alot about the mark-ups employed on this site, so something to bear in mind. You can tell the rooms have been made on a price, and by the looks of things, someone who only had a basic knowledge of DIY. The rooms are constructed with simple stud plaster partitions, which brings me to a bug bear of mine, and in fact with a lot hotels and pubs in the UK. Soundproofing! At the Derwent it's virtually nonexistent, you can hear all the other guests throughout the day and night, so bring earplugs! We stayed in the standard double, which was comfortable, but compact. No place to sit down other than a single small side table stool. The bathroom was basic, with some tragically poor tiling, which reflects the poor workmanship and materials used in making them. I suspect in a few years, they will start too look a bit ropey.

"Great overnight stay close to the A1"

Great location. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food was good, honest, pub grub and very reasonably priced. Portions very good too. Lovely comfortable room. Great views, nice beer garden and free parking.

Nothing really!
