Arriving at the pub/accommodation to a note on the door saying it is open from 3pm the following day, despite having reservations for that night. Called booking.com who wasn't very useful, waited 45 mins for them to get back to us to be told we had to find somewhere else and would be refunded

Really comfortable beds in cosy and tastefully decorated rooms, good water pressure, Nespresso machines in room, quiet area, lovely bar with good beer and very welcoming staff. Free continental breakfast was a nice bonus as we weren't expecting that. Very, very good value for money, and a very stylish pub overall. We wish them every success with the new management and menus. WiFi was very fast and suitable for business and video calls. We would definitely stay again if passing through the area.

No food on due to a management changeover period and changing chefs, but we were informed well beforehand when making the booking, so it wasn't really a problem for us. We were also able to use the microwave in the pub kitchen to warm up some food we brought with us, and got a takeaway pizza from the bar over the road.

Location of the pub is in a very pretty area. We needed to be in a location not to far from Durham as we were dropping our son at uni. It was about a 35 min drive north west of durham so a bit to far out really.

On arriving late afternoon after a very long drive from South Somerset we were greeted with a sign saying NO FOOD AVAILABLE. Really not ideal at all as only other option was a possible takeaway pizza from another pub. We checked in as no other option and told that they couldn't confirm if breakfast would be available or not. The rooms were ok, we had a large double with a large ensuite. Pretty basic but ok. If we had known about the food then we wouldn't have stayed.

Clean good rooms. Good water pressure and good hot water Shed for our bikes Nice bar staff Simona who was friendly and welcoming.

No chef so had to go to the Baa for delicious take out pizza which we ate in the Derwent Arms in the bar which we were allowed to do. Breakfast was continental as no chef but very basic. Long life croissants, very poor whole fruit selection no yoghurt, not much service to be honest.

Great location, friendly staff. Overall very good.

Well equipped, clean and relatively comfortable rooms. Also a very convenient enclosed dog exercise park/common across the road.

We chose this pub as it looked like it had good food as well as rooms, however when we arrived there was no food offering at all as apparently they had lost their chef. Luckily there was a (very ordinary) pizza place that did the job but anything else was unfortunately a 15 min drive away.

Lovely friendly staff. Great room and en-suite

Disappointed there was no food available, however we had been contacted a couple of days before travel to let us know this, giving us time to make alternative arrangements.
