Beautiful location with beer garden and a tasty menu, clean room and friendly staff

It would have been helpful to know the kitchen closing time upon arrival, especially as the pub is in a remote location so if you’re arriving late, it’s worth bringing some snacks. There were teabags in the room but no kettle, which was a bit unexpected. That said, these are minor points, as it’s a lovely place to stay with beautiful grounds and a great beer garden.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is very picturesque, with great walks nearby. Our room was lovely, with everything we needed and a comfortable bed. The evening meal was excellent, with a very good choice of dishes, and generous portions! Breakfast was delicious and again very generous portions. We would highly recommend.

We originally booked for a Monday night, however it was not made clear on the booking.com site that the bar and restaurant are closed on Mondays. The staff at The Derwent Arms rang me prior to our visit to let us know, and were very accommodating in changing our booking to another night. I feel that this information should be made clear at the time of booking.

Staff were excellent, pub great and the food delicious. Nothing too much bother when asked.

Nice atmosphere in great location-bed was comfortable and great food & service

The room we had has started to look a little tired- light fitting missing from ceiling, threadbare carpet & the room, even tho small has a large bathroom that could do with updating.

Very helpful staff. Safe overnight storage of cycle. Clean room. Comfortable bed.
