Rooms are fine, airconditioned. Communal Area. excursions are cheap via the hostel.

Please buy a large water reservoir, bottled water is bad for the environment and for our wallet!

Great location. Lovely family hotel, staff all very nice and helpful. Very clean, good kitchen facilities and nice common area. Bathroom nice, bed could be more comfortable but fine for few nights.

This hostel was the best value accommodation we stayed in on our Galapagos trip. The room was comfortable, clean (cleaned every day) and the shower was great. The staff were so kind and it was so handy being able to do laundry and have it returned within a few hours. The kitchen was well equipped meaning we could save money by making our own meals.

It might be a good idea to have a labeling system for the food in the fridge. Someone stole/threw out our yogurt which maybe they'd be less likely to do if stuff was labeled....

We stayed for 5 nights and were unfortunately a bit disappointed. The room had no window and patio (as described on booking). Which is a bit sad for sleeping 5 nights. The kitchen was quite dirty and not proper equipped. It had very old pots and pans. You need to wash the dishes with cold water and a very old sponge, so most of the time the dishes were still dirty and the staff still returned it into the kitchen. There were quite some mosquitoes (and sometimes big cockroaches) in the kitchen/hammock area. And most important it felt like it is “just business” for the staff. Looked like it was even hard to say “hello” sometimes. We missed the friendly welcoming feeling, which we are used to in other places. To be honest I think there are a couple of places around where you pay maybe a just bit more, but where you have a better experience :-)

good kitchen, large common area for eating, with lots of tables. Quiet area, large room, A/C worked very well. Easy to walk anywhere in Puerto Villamil, although that's true for anywhere since the town is so small. Our room was on the upper floor and was quite large, with three beds. The rooms upstairs are larger, and one has it's own small patio (not ours). There's also a couple of tables/chairs on the ground floor out front, which are right in front of a couof the ground floor rooms - great if you're in one of those rooms and want to sit outside, but maybe not as great if someone else decides to sit right outside your door.

No drinking water refill dispenser available, which resulted in us having to buy water in disposable, 6 liter bottles. This was a downer for us, and seems crazy especially for a place like the Galapagos, where everyone is trying to cut down on waste. I know it's a small thing, but for a lot of travelers having drinking water available is important and it would be so easy for the hostal to provide. The 9 a.m. checkout seemed early, but it's a common time across all the islands. In the end it didn’t affect us, because we were taking the early morning boat anyway. Oh and the coffee cups were small, but that’s just being picky!

Clean Hostal in a decent location with a good kitchen. We only stayed one night as our trip to Isabella was short but this place was very convenient. It’s located on the better side of town closer to the muelle (dock). The kitchen was good to cook in.

They didn’t have a water fountain, and water at the grocery store was prohibitively expensive and/or sold in tiny bottles.

price was good. very easy to book. convenient location!
