The band playing and clientele at the bar downstairs were noisy until about 2am. Did not sleep well.

The beauty of this place is the inn itself. It had lots of personality and charm. It was well-maintained with appropriate period appropriate furnishings. The location, on a main street, above a local cafe and a bar, was quite quiet and convenient. As one might expect, the walls were not sound proof. However, the patrons were quiet and respectful of each other’s presence. I prefer the historical character of this inn to other options in town that had more amenities. The proprietor and staff were quite friendly and efficient. I could not have asked for more. The included breakfast at the cafe downstairs had a nice menu of options and was well attended.

The room was cold in the middle of a winter cold spell. Some sort of fire-safe space heater would have been helpful. There was an intermittent low humming sound that persisted through the early hours of the morning. I learned later that the issue was known and might be the HVAC system on the roof. So perhaps both of these issues can be addressed with one fix. It would be reasonable to set expectations for this room in advance if it is to be rented again before these issues are fixed.
