" This rustic inn and resort offers comfortable rooms with modern amenities including free Wi-Fi, mini refrigerators, coffee makers, and cable TV. Whitney's inn offers a heated outdoor pool and lounge area with yard games such as ping pong, horseshoes and cornhole. In the summer and fall the outdoor fishing pond is open for guests to enjoy kayaking, fishing and campfires. Breakfast is not offered at Whitney's inn. Dinner is served in the family friendly Shovel Handle Pub Wednesday - Friday from 5:00pm - 10:00pm. Dinner is not offered any other days. Local attractions include Black Mountain Ski area less than 1 mile away and Story Land amusement park less than 4 miles away.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. We always had fond memories of this place due to its location near multiple hiking/snowshoeing paths and cozy place. Our room was spacious especially when traveling with family. The restaurant had great food and convenient to get to during cold snowy days. Having hot cocoa and marshmallows was a nice little touch. Glad to see that not much had changed after not visiting for 5 years!

It would be helpful to have a microwave in the common area in case you want to warm up something (especially when traveling with a child). Since it was shoulder season the restaurant was not opened on Saturday which would have been nice. They used to have breakfast before at the hotel which was amazing, not anymore. :-(

This is a cool old farmhouse located in the mountains. It is quiet, clean and the staff are amazing. Everything in the room functioned properly, the food at the pub was tasty and well prepared. It is not a cookie cutter chain hotel, thus this hotel has a rarely found charm, it is a gem in the mountains. I am super happy I chose to stay here.

Temper your expectations, again this is not a branded beige chain hotel; everything you need is found here however its a bit of a distance away from Jackson (but there is a shuttle), the rooms are just a little older (I was informed upgrades are in constantly in progress), and the pub has limited hours depending on the season.

It was very quaint and nice. I loved walking next door to hear live music!

The room was a bit cramped and we could hear everything going on next door. Wish they offered breakfast.
