Big car park for trailers heading to Oulton park. The hotel was a lovely old building modernised to a very high standard inside. The staff and the manager/owner were all amazing. Dinner and breakfast were great. The owner/manager even made an extra effort for us to get us an early breakfast before our day at Oulton. Rooms were very comfy and modern, nice bathroom. Great setting near the water if you have a dry summer evening. We'll be back whenever we are at Oulton.

We came down for breakfast and was greeted by a lovely pleasant lady who appeared very friendly and chatty which is what you expect in such a place. It was total contrast from the evening before and we both said how different staff had been the night before. Unfortunately the food served for breakfast wasn't great.

On arrival we were approached by a member of staff who appeared blasé and walked past us to get to the bar and didn't welcome us as you'd expect when seeing someone with a suitcase. She didn't bother looking at us and just said can I help - so we said we've got a room booked and she continued to book us in. We mentioned that we'd booked a table for 6:30pm and was it possible to rearrange the time to 5:30pm and she appeared not to be concerned and said no problem however we've only got one chef that's turned in as though we were creating an issue. And then she mentioned breakfast whether we were having it - we said yes and then she asked what time as the chef will need to know and again she mentioned we've only got one chef ?? We gave an approx time and then mentioned about a corner table we'd requested not realising how small the pub was and then she walked to the steps down and pointed to the corner and said "it's that one over there". She genuinely made us feel very unwelcome and as though we were creating an issue for her. She took us upstairs and asked had we stayed before we said no and then she unlocked the door and said this is yours, gave us the key and left. We came down later to have a meal which was ok but unfortunately staff serving appeared not interested and not showing enough concern for good customer service.

Lovely property. Very clean and quiet. Checked in over the phone as we would be late arriving. Staff are really friendly and lovely. Got there late and the woman (sorry didn’t get her name as it was late) was very friendly and showed us to our room - grateful for your help. Thank you for a lovely stay. Would recommend and would love to come back for a longer stay.

Truly exceptional, great staff , friendly and helpful, super comfy room with lots of character , amazing food for both dinner and breakfast, will definitely be returning, can’t fault a single aspect of this rare gem.
