The Arts Hotel

Staff was super nice! The room didn’t have a TV or mini fridge which was fine by us! Unique and nice spot!

We stayed at The Arts Hotel in Charlottetown Oct 4th and, while the rooms were clean, we were surprised to find there was no TV, no fridge, no phones, etc —basically nothing in the room besides the basics. It was fine for a short stay, but very minimal. What really bothered us was the lounge area. On the morning of October 4th, there were men sleeping in there with clothes and belongings sprawled everywhere. It was honestly uncomfortable and unwelcoming — we couldn’t even grab a coffee. We mentioned it to the front desk, and the staff just said, “Yeah, we’re aware,” which didn’t feel very reassuring. Glad my boyfriend was with me during this stay. The location is great, and the ladies at the front check in on Oct 3 were so accommodating and friendly — they even let us check in early, which we appreciated

There is a bar directly below the back of house rooms, and it is LOUD, so if you want to sleep before 2 am, ask for a room in the front of the hotel. They were very good about moving us. The music was so loud it reverberated in our first room, but when they moved us, we couldn't hear noise. The other things to know are: the TV, refrigerator and coffee (at a cost) are in a common room. The rooms are newly renovated, but don't have those amenities. The hotel has no parking. We paid 8.75 for a parkade that was a couple of minutes walk away. Staff was very courteous and helpful.

The bath towels looked disgusting that I didn’t even

They market this hotel as a "concept" hotel with a minimalist design—the concept being "Hostel." They also downplay the fact that the rooms can be extremely noisy due to the adjacent music venue. If your idea of "noisy" is feeling like the band is performing in the washroom next to your bed, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, book somewhere else. We booked two nights, and upon arrival, were informed it would be "somewhat noisy" until 2 a.m. We debated leaving but were told they would not refund the first night (despite someone standing behind us trying to book a room in the fully booked hotel). However, they said they would cancel our second night if we weren’t satisfied. We thought, "What the heck—it can't be that bad." A little noise, maybe. But even with earplugs and noise-canceling headphones, the music was beyond loud, vibrating up through the floors, plumbing, and walls. This is not a little back beat from house music, you might as well be in the bar. We canceled the second night, and the staff acted as though they were doing us a favor. One young woman even said, “Yes, I’m used to second-floor complaints.”

No television in the room wasn’t good

The front desk staff was very friendly. Parking is available in a garage lot right behind the hotel, was about 8 dollars for the night. The room was clean and comfortable, lacking a tv but this is described in the listing. I stayed on a Thursday night. When I booked I got a message from the hotel indicating that they have shows on the main floor that can be noisy in the evenings. I was on the 3rd floor and could very clearly hear the drumming from the venue. However, I was warned about this before my visit and was able to cancel if I so chose, so no foul there.

Central, clean, really comfortable beds, blackout blinds, and happy and friendly staff. Rooms are minimal but all that’s needed and the hotel has a great communal area with a lounge and TVs, and a dining area with a fully fitted kitchen with air fryer, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. There’s also a laundry room and vending machines serving drinks and snack and free ice machine.
