The queens head

What an unexpected gem!! I was walking the Northumberland Coastal Path and after finishing at Cresswell I walked on to Newbiggen with the plan of walking home to Tyneside. The room was lovely and comfortable as was the bathroom. I slept well and had everything I needed. The best however was the bar. It was busy and offered a lively and welcoming atmosphere, however the best was the Bistro restaurant. The food was fantastic. I had ribeye. It was delicious. It really was. I can't recommend this place enough. A true gem. And if you are ever in Newbiggen and want something to eat well I would 100 % recommend a visit to the Queens Head. I will definitely be returning.

Bedroom was modern, clean, and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. The starters and main courses we had on our first evening were very well presented and tasteful.

We didn't like the smell of cooking/chip fat when entering the stairwell to our accommodation. Breakfast was very disappointing especially when we had delicious food served to us the evening before. There was slices of cheese and ham that didn't looked the best, the bread appeared to be of a cheaper make. We waited to be offered a cooked breakfast and sat around about 20 minutes, when no one appeared I went to the kitchen to ask the chef if a cooked breakfast was on offer to be advised they no longer offer a cooked breakfast as it is too quiet. The breakfast experience would have been so much better if we had of been advised on our arrival that the breakfast option was a continental option only . If the ham, cheese, and bread were improved upon this would be more appealing.

I was heading towards Newcastle, however, everything I could see was booked or expensive. I can off the road early and found this oasis. Great location, beautiful village, seaside, incredible history.

Muisc from kitchen below room 1 was very loud until after 9pm

The room was excellent looked very clean had everything we needed the staff was friendly but the breakfast let it down orange juice was poor quality a few items on and table so left hungry
