Hotel El Velero

Close to the airport so it was a decent place to stay the night before going home. A good alternative to staying directly near the airport.

It was extremely busy at the hotel, pool, beach, and restaurant. Not nearly as calm and relaxing as the previous places we visited on our trip throughout the country. We were there during Holy Week which was the cause of the beach being so busy but overall the property was just ok. Pool was busy and didn’t seem very clean. Restaurant service was slow. Beach chairs were always full and beach shoulder to shoulder people. I wouldn’t stay here for longer than a night. Hotel rooms were clean and modern with a/c but not spectacular by any means. Just an ok experience.

Very close to the beach. Comfortable chairs. Great ambiance. Excellent waitstaff.

Very small rooms with no access to a window. Impossible to hang wet suits to dry anywhere. There is a small glass wall above the door of the room. This lets in the bright hallway lights. It was not good for children that go to bed early. Very loud music on the property next door.

As others mentioned the hotel is dated, the pool is shallow (for kids?) and very dirty looking. Price does not include breakfast which is pricey. Unfortunately, not enough shade/trees where to place the chairs. Our room 207 had large glass window towards the corridor which had 2 very bright lights all night long which made it difficult to sleep.
