Good staff

Leak in bathroom, water all over the floor. Maid came into our room at 8am in the morning without knocking. No air con.

I am disabled and I searched for accessible hotels in booking.com. This hotel was mentioned as accessible hotel. Since I am disabled and wanted a comfortable stay, I booked this hotel and paid in advance (there were other hotels which was listed with lesser price, unfortunately I chose this stay). I also mentioned in the comments section, while booking, that "I am a disabled solo traveler looking for accessible rooms for the stay". I called to the hotel a day before my travel to inform that I have a mobility scooter and enquired about the charging options for the scooter and safety aspects. I also checked with them if it is fine to do early check-in. Everything was told positively over the call and when I went there it was totally opposite. I arrived at 12pm to the hotel and they said that they cannot check me in early. If they need to check me in early, I need to pay 10 GBP extra. I asked if I could use the toilet, go out, come back later and check-in at usual time. They were fine with it, but they did not have a disabled toilet in the hotel at all. I was disappointed and asked them if it was really an accessible hotel. Since they did not have a disabled toilet, I asked them to check me in so that I would be safe from falling or tripping in the toilets provided in my room. They disagreed and told me that I should have called them earlier. Inspite of me calling and informing my situation, the staff were rude. They made me wait for half an hour and then finally allowed me to check-in. The rooms were inaccessible as well. The pathway to the rooms goes like a maze and there were 4 steps to reach my room. As a person using mobility scooter, I did not expect this. In case of fire, I am not sure how a disabled person would evacuate. The shower room was not disabled friendly. The wifi was not working properly. I had to leave my scooter out in a room for charging and the staff were unavailable most of times for resolving any queries.

It was lovely having a pool. All of the staff in this hotel are very friendly and work hard. Its kept very clean and the food in the restaurant is to a reasonable standard.

The room we had wasn't that good. Some of the lights were not working, one window wouldn't close properly. The bathroom was very basic especially the shower. The bath was horrible, needs replacing, very gritty. No blind in the bathroom and although there was obscured glass ,passers by can see in. I would say, though, that the reception staff changed the room immediately when we reported this. Its a really nice hotel, even though parts of it need a bit of a refurbishment. We had great service and a great time and would definitely return., but definitely not to room 120.

Breakfast was good with good service

The rooms were very hot with no Aircon also didn't realise it was predominately a coaching hotel.
