"Peaceful stay in the dales"

The staff here is incredible. Owners Jake and Sasha are charming and can’t do enough for you. Free parking, great breakfast. As of May 2026, they are on the verge of opening some new, freestanding units out back, which should be great. They seem to have a real vision for this place. The view of the dales out our window was great. Walkers use this hotel as a comfortable base for their trek along the Herriot Way.

Just be advised there is no lift, so if mobility is an issue request a room on a lower floor.

Friendly welcome, good room. Decent breakfast, there was no orange juice one morning but bottles from the bar were provide, great dinner, decent staff. Fantastic location to tour the local Dales.

Possibly more drawers in the room if possible. Some tables in the dining room, on the lower level, were wobbly. I think it was because the floor is stone. A shuffle of the table may sort this out.

"Well worth staying"

It was all very good. We enjoyed the breakfasts and walks round the property. We were well looked after and enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed the view from the window. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. It was easy to reach from Leyburn

There was not much on the evening menu. Also it was quite hot in our room the first day as the radiator was on.

Spotless. Attention to detail in bedroom and hotel furnishings. Seating areas outside in sunshine. Friendly staff. Food - in restaurant delicious.

"A last minute booking which we were very pleased with."

The room was in an annex next to the hotel but was a very short walk across the car park. Room nicely presented. Bar and restaurant very nicely done with separate and diverse menus. Excellent breakfast. All staff very nice.

Perhaps the decor in the bathroom is now a little dated. Fresh milk was offered (and accepted) for the room but there’s no in-room fridge to keep it in.
