Western Isles Hotel

It is over 62 years since I last stayed at the hotel, and I wondered if it would have changed much. Well, yes it had, but mostly for the better. Lots of interesting decorative features, which livened up the building. It was nice to see the old 7 o'clock dinner gong, but it would have been fun to hear it rung again.

Strange games room...not sure what that decor was all about.

The view from bedroom window was super! Good shower. Style of the hotel. Servic by the staff was excellent.

When you turn around in your bed, its a lot of noise. Loud ventilation system in the bathroom.

Amazing location and views, very friendly and professional staff and an impressive building. Our room had particularly stunning views, was large and generally comfortable. A fun billiard / hang out room was a bonus.

The breakfast was ok but mediocre in parts. Nice smoked salmon cheese and pastries. Ingredients seemed a bit cheap and eggs were overcooked and greasy. The bacon was steamed rather than crispy. It was a tolerable buffet style. We had a couple of issues with our bathroom but we reported them directly so I hope they will be sorted. We think maybe some areas need a really deep clean as turnover each day to new guests will not solve some deep-seated cleaning issues. Not a criticism of the housekeepers who obviously have have work quickly to prepare the rooms for the next guests.The heating system was very bizarre but staff were helpful in trying to manage it. E would definitely stay again as character sometimes means a few eccentricities.

Parking was limited.
