Western Isles Hotel

The hotel is beautiful, with an excellent view over the water. The food was fantastic; we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. My husband thought it was the best breakfast of our two-week trip. The staff was friendly and helpful.

It would have been helpful for us if the hotel had a lift, but we understand the difficulties in adding one.

Superb elevated position above Tobermory with arguably the best views in town, looking across the harbour and Sound of Mull. * Very fortunate upgrade from a standard harbour-view room to a spacious suite. * Charming Victorian character and a real sense of history. * Excellent double glazing, which kept the room snug, windows could be opened for some fresh air. * Large modern shower with good water pressure. * Comfortable seating area in the suite, making the most of the outstanding view. * Soft island water – a small thing perhaps, but very noticeable coming from Bristol’s hard water, and much appreciated. * Friendly atmosphere with a number of obvious returning guests, which always says something positive about a hotel. * Very enjoyable evening meal. * Live music after dinner featuring traditional songs, familiar favourites and some original material, creating a memorable end to the day. * A wonderful place to sit with a final glass of wine and watch the long Hebridean summer evening unfold over the bay.

* The building inevitably shows signs of its age and would benefit from investment in places. * Breakfast was perfectly acceptable but relied on hot-held items rather than being freshly cooked to order. * Some furnishings and décor feel a little dated, although this is also part of the hotel’s character.

Location- no parking to speak of. - very uncomfortable bed

Didn’t bother us but our room on 4 th floor no lift could be a problem for some Bar was in dining room room adjoining needed more seats to sit and have a drink Breakfast was completely self service for the money we paid would of expected a fresh cooked breakfast some items lukewarm disappointed with the breakfast No carpet in the bedroom laminated flooring Room was cold had to ask twice as heating would not work
