The Pear Tree Inn & Country Hotel

Nice grounds

Food was not served as advertised. Only jacket potatoes on the menu. Rooms were very tired and not as on the pictures. I would not book this hotel again, sadly.

Very nice lady on reception. Very quiet location, which was what we were looking for.

A fan in the room would have been useful, as it was a hot and humid evening.

Great location near the motorway, but felt like you were in the middle of the countryside, it wax so peaceful. The hotel was very charming.

The breakfast option was described as continental for an extra £8 each. Cereal and toast is definitely not continental and not worth £8. Fortunately I am a member of the National Trust and got a great breakfast roll a few miles down the road.

Not that clean, no food available after 8pm although we had arrived at 7.40 there was still nothing available.

We should have been told that there was no dining room, which apparently is being renovated or redecorated) or even a bar, which doesn’t open on the night we were there (Mondays) . . . There was a notice on reception, saying continental breakfast would be between 7,30 and 8.30 (should be at least, until 9.30, in my opinion) but NO, there was no breakfast. . . after complaining and being told I should have requested a breakfast the night before (nothing on the desk to tell us that), one of the staff did kindly bring us toast, marmalade, extra coffee and milk to our room . . . No complaints about the room and bathroom whatsoever, all very nice and clean. . . The grounds around the front and side of the hotel however, are looking a bit neglected . . . There may be somewhere to sit outside at the back of the hotel (their online pictures certainly give that impression), we couldn’t tell because the doors were locked so we couldn’t find out . . . Hopefully, there are and if the hotel opens the bar EVERY day, from 2pm, instead of 5pm, so that guests can enjoy having a drink outside on sunny afternoons, they WILL come back again . . . even I might . . .

Not a lot !!

No food, very poor continental breakfast with 1 slice of cold toast, cheap coffee and a poor selection of cereals only, no meats cheeses or croissants. Bar only open from 5 till 8 and bottles or cans only. All the pumps were covered over. I had a half filled beer glass outside my door on the carpet. Gurka restaurant was closed until further notice!! Carpets and general hotel was very tired and dirty. Even the room toilet roll was almost empty. Days are numbered it seems !!
