Grecotel Meli Palace

Nice place, great territory, fine beach, good food and very pleasant staff.

Everything was fine.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted at the door by friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure we got a meal despite our late flight time. Food was fresh and tasty and staff were lovely thought our stay. We had hoped to visit the local Agretourism farm but weren’t able to due to a change in our plans and the hotel manager sourced gift bags for us so we could try the lovely products. The hotel is set on its own bay with free pedal boats to borrow. We loved swimming to the island you can see in some of the pictures.

I personally found the bed a little hard and it could be a bit remote for people wanting to be in the centre of the action. We didn’t though so it was perfect for us!

An absolute heaven (beside the few flaws mentioned above), located centrally but really isolated from everything, no neighboring hotels or resorts within sight, a private beach for real, the plot of the resort is very smart and simple, making it a very safe place for kids to roam freely, easily finding their way everywhere. Food was absolutely fantastic, breakfast, lunch and dinner, extremely rich and diversified variety of food to choose from, changing daily with basic regulars of course, I would never recommend an all inclusive experience when travelling but this time I can't say a single bad word about the food, didn't feel like we were missing anything. staff is very friendly, warm and professional. All and all an amazing stay. Would come back again for sure.

First - bottom line this place is perfect, detailed later. second, a few flaws - Our bed was bad 😞... an old, soft and saggy mattress. I'm glad I haven't read the reviews about the beds, because it would have been a deal breaker for me and I would have missed this amazing place, but definitely they must replace the mattresses ASAP. I was offered a "topper" to better my sleep, which obviously made it worse, and ended up putting the topper on the floor and sleeping there which worked good for me (I do something similar at home...). Entertainment was bad, with the all too familiar non English speaking performers doing covers for 80' hits. I will never understand why no one thinks about changing this bad habit which happens in most resorts, in Greece anyway. sounds was bad as well with too much volume. Shows continue till 23:00 every night which makes it impossible to sleep with anything open, so you miss the breeze and the sound of the waves, which by the way, is heard perfectly from your bed. Beach was amazing and 30 meters from our room door, just keep in mind it's sandy outside but the minute you step in the water it's rocks and pebbles all the way... not ideal but still a nice secluded and relaxed beach. these are the flaws. it's not nothing, but still didn't really interfere with our perfect stay at the Meli.

Food and restaurant was excellent. Open bar as well.

Kids club for the kids was very bad. To many staff but not much and entertaining for the kids (7 years and up). Gym only open when spa is open and need to pay a extra fee for this. Spa could offer more range of treatments that you want and need as a hotel guest, as manicure/ pedicure/epilation etc.

The Staff is amazing. The location of the Hotel is amazing, quiet area with private beach. Excellent service, very attentive staff who welcomed us with a great smile.

1.The fact that you need to order drinks from the staff during your meals. Should be self service just like the food. 2. Other guests. Some people just don't have any respect for the people who work.

The place is very wonderful outside, and the facilities are diverse, especially the children’s club, which is very distinguished and holds many events and parties throughout the day. The beach is beautiful and the meals are delicious and varied.

The worst thing mentioned in this hotel is the rooms, especially the bed, which is very, very bad, uncomfortable and not double, and the covers are very light, old and worn out. Also, the bathroom needs improvement, as it is very old and does not look good.

Great location in a quiet section of beach away from other resorts (but still walking distance to Malia palace, which is well worth a visit). The staff were friendly and very accommodating to our needs. Good selection of food at all meal times.

Unfortunately living there permanently isn't an option.
