Sahnan Guest House

Andri and his family made me feel very welcome, arriving late at night. A perfect spot to prepare for, and then recover from a multi day jungle trek. The breakfast veranda has an amazing view of the often raging river.

Location was perfect, close to the jungle and the city center. The staff was amazing, best host we had in Indonesia.

I don't think I have ever experienced such good customer service. This is a family run place and they went above and beyond to make sure my partner and I were comfortable and happy. They also booked us on an amazing trek in the jungle to see the Orangutans. We got to see one very up close. Our guide was named Bim and he was fantastic and such a joy! Highly recommend staying here!

Sahnan gest house is an amazing place to stay, relax, and enjoy nature. The room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfeat was realy good. Andre, the owner, is a realy nice and helpful man. You can book jungle trip directly with him. We booked 2 days and 1 night in jungle. It was so great, we saw plenty of animals included the famous orangutans. Amazing experience. I recommend 100 %.

Very convenient location and extremely warm and kind hosts. The room is simple but confortable and perfectly clean The owners are always ready to help and their small shop is very useful (don't forget to buy an efficient mosquito repellent there ;) Nice addition, the lunch terrace has a very nice view of the river

No warm water, like in many (all?) places in bukit lawang. Not a problem at all considering the warm weather though

This was definitely one of our highlights of our trip through Indonesia. We organized everything (Car to pick us up and Trekking Trip) in advance with Jay via WhatsApp and everything worked well. We stayed one night at the Bungalow of Jay and his family and started the jungle track the next morning with Jay and one of his friends. They were teaching us a lot of things about the jungle and of course seeing the Orang utans was spectacular. We had the feeling the whole time that they really repect the nature and its animals. The walk was quite challenging since it was raining the night before and everything was a bit slippery but Jay and his friend helped us all the time to make it to our sleeping place. The food there was amazing and we loved chatting with Jay and his friend during dinner and the rest of the evening. Next morning - next Highlight rafting back to the town. Overall we cannot emphasize enough how much we enjoyed staying at Sahan guest house and doing the jungle trip.

The family is the best! Really friendly and helpful. The garden is beautiful and relaxed with different fruits. Also the cooking was really good, also during the jungle trek! We loved the ayam rendang!

The property is well decorated with beautifully maintained gardens. It has a shop and a restaurant terrace which are amazing to sit by the river to have your meals. Andri and his family were amazing hosts who couldn’t do enough to help us, including arranging us a taxi to Medan airport after our stay. we ate at his family’s restaurant both nights and the food was delicious. This stay has been a highlight of our trip and I’d highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Nothing that the owners can do anything about. Remember this is the jungle!

Great homestay on the boarder of the jungle. Stayed 6 days there, we saw orang utans twice in our garden. Our host organized the trekking (we did 2 days), we highly recommend doing this. The host is very friendly and helpful, he picked us up from the bus terminal to the homestay and also brought us back. When we had no cash he drove us 10 kilometers to the atm.
