The Rani Mahal

Our Stay at the Rani Mahal was the highlight of our trip to Jodphur. This amazing Havali is 450 years old and has been recently renovated enhancing all the beautiful carved stone walls and pillars. The owner Nisha and her daughter have created such a beautiful place to stay inside the Blue City. Great location everything within walking distance. A fabulous view of the fort from the rooftop restaurant. Nisha and her amazing staff were always available to help with any needs including booking transport, shopping and always available to chat. Mitali and Nisha spend alot of their time welcoming guests and checking in on your needs. The restaurant has delicious traditional food that we rarely ate anywhere else. We will certainly stay here again on our next trip, felt like a home away from home. 💚💛⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Communication to hotel

I had booked two rooms in Rani Mahal for a day and I have been disappointed on multiple fronts. 1) The location of the property is horrible. It’s located right adjacent to Ghanta Ghar, the old city. Hence no cars can reach the hotel. Either you can come through auto or walk. Autos charge lot of money for even minimal distances of 1km or so. If you walk, you will encounter at least 30-40 stray dogs in a stretch of a km, needles to say the open drains, piles of garbage and never ending traffic and congestion. 2) The Rooms, especially the bedding is quite unclean and it smells. There were stains on the bed and smell in the room. 3) We wanted a cab to go to another place in Balasore. The owner agreed to arrange a cab, however she charged for 800 rupees as commission for a 3k cab. That too she insisted on being paid in cash. And despite all this, she ultimately miscommunicated with the cab driver by telling her a different location, resulting in our loss of time and money. I had booked the hotel through what they show on Instagram, however in reality it is quite different. It would ruin one’s experience, as there is a huge reality mismatch. Not to mention the hesitation in online payments and high commission charges at every step.

My car couldn't reach, I was informed there is no way for car, so they will send auto rickshaw for pick-up. Why hotel/ booking.com did not inform this at the time of booking. I did not stay as it was too much to leave car on the way and get everything into auto. I was charged for hotel in which I never stayed. It's nothing short of fraud and booking.com equally responsible. 0

Location was great. Staff was wonderful

Within walking distance of Mehrangarh Fort and other historical places. The rooftop terrace which offers a great view of the fort.

Location is only accessible by auto rickshaw and the local area is blighted by stray dogs. The hotel could do with some modernisation but this probably adds a bit to the rustic charm of the hotel.
