Samyama Retreat

Fantastic relaxing retreat in a jungle with a crystal clear stream running through the valleys centre that is a short swim or canoe ride from the lagoon at cola beach. This is where time stands with an abundance of exotic birds including the graceful long tailed Indian fly catcher Greater coucal centropus and several birds of prey. The place is teeming with nature perfect for artists and photographers. Our favourites were a family of monkeys swinging from tree to tree . The staff couldn’t do enough for us including room service and making sure our needs were met . The food and drinks were good quality too.

We thoroughly loved our stay but watch the mosquitoes as sun sets they are gone in 30 minutes but it’s best to cover up at that time if you are the type that attracts them!

Everything about this property is exceptional. I haven’t had better food in any hotel till now. Their service is top notch, they have the most humble staff, their rooms are super cozy and comfortable right in the middle of the jungle, perfect for a quiet getaway. I’m surely coming here again. I had one of my best experience here.

Samyama is truly one of a kind and special place. All around is luscious green, sounds of nature and smells of the ocean. Set back from the main road, yet only a short walk to Kola beach. The cabin rooms are well equipped with the basics and they offer fantastic views from the balcony. If you have your own vehicle, Samyama is the perfect location to base yourself in South Goa. The resort is self-sustaining in terms of water and electricity, which was a big selling point for me. Do not expect a fancy 5 star hotel with all the bells and whistles. Samyama is incredibly charming because it is rustic, simple, and one with nature. However, it is the Samyama team that truly makes this place a gem. From the moment I booked my stay, I was in contact with Vipin, the owner. He was available to answer my questions and arranged for an airport pickup. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and well taken care of by Vipin and his team - especially when I became unwell for a few days. From Sangram who collected my medication, to Anuj who picked me up late in the day because I didn't drive, to Sachin the chef who created the most incredible meals, to Jalandar at front of house who is generous with his local recommendations. No request was too much for the team. They went above and beyond my expectations. To truly experience the magic of Samyama, you should stay at least 3 nights... and you most definitely should spend time talking with the Samyama team. I leave with a full heart and much love for Samyama.

Samyama Retreat is an incredible place, surrounded by the beauty of nature and just a few steps away from the beach. I have been to Goa multiple times, and every time I visit, this place is always on my list. This was my sixth visit, and this time, I came with my family, including my two kids—and we all had an amazing time. The hospitality and services here are outstanding. The owner, Vipin, is a genuinely kind person who goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels comfortable and supported. The food is fantastic, with excellent quality and the option to customize as per your preferences. Special mention to their bartender, Jalinder, who is always attentive and ensures your needs are met. One of the highlights of this retreat is the kayaking experience. They have kayaks right in front of the resort, and you can kayak straight to Cola Beach. The views during the kayaking journey are breathtaking, and it’s an experience you shouldn’t miss. Another unique feature is the lunch they arrange in the backwaters, with water flowing under your feet—it feels like heaven on earth. Everything about this place, from the scenic views to the overall stay experience, is exceptional. The staff, the service, the property, and the location are all perfect. state. If I could, I would rate Samyama Retreat 10 stars. It truly is a slice of paradise, and I can’t wait to return again!

The food can be improved.

Our host Vipin greeted us at arrival and from that moment we felt so welcome. We were shown to our room in the jungle with a perfect view at the treetops with all the birds and a few monkeys now and then. A small walk (300 metres) to Cola/Kola beach (turn right and walk 100 metres to the calm end), an undisturbed beach with little to no activity, which was perfect for us. If you are looking for watersports and many restaurants, walk 30 minutes (or grab a taxi) to Agonda beach. When returning from the beach(es) what better way to be greeted by Vipin and staff and get a seat in the river(!) with a cold beer and some masala peanuts! And please; you don't have to eat anywhere else but Samyama. The chef does miracles!!!! We are self-declared foodies and here we were served some of the best meals ever! Try everything on the menu or even better, let Vipin decide for you. Either way you will be spoiled. I could go on and on - but to keep it short; we will come back!!

Loved everything.

After traveling through India I was looking for a place to get away from all the hassle and just relax and enjoy nature. I'm so happy that I got the chance to stay at Samyama because it was fully booked shortly after. After reading the very good reviews I can only admit that they are right. I was welcomed by the owner Vipin on arrival and he couldn't make me feel more at home and gave all the guests so much personal attention. Together with his family he built such an amazing place in the middle of nature. It was so nice to watch all the birds and animals straight from the porch of my room. The room itself was very spacious and clean. They all have a big fan on the ceiling and all the windows and doors have screens to protect you from any mosquito's, so at night it will be cool while enjoying jungle night sounds. There's also a very nice restaurant with an extensive menu and very, very nice food, which you can enjoy while having a table in the river. This place is a very good spot if you like to go the beach as well. At a 3 minutes walk from the location you will find Cola beach, which is one of the prettiest in Goa. If you are looking for some place to unwind and enjoy nature/beaches, do not hesitate to book a room. There's only about 6 rooms, so they might sell out quickly.

That I had to go back home and couldn't try the other food on the menu.
