This is a well run hotel. Breakfast is excellent and the staff are very good. The rooms are very comfortable.

The hotel sells itself on images of a lovely Manor house. Unfortunately, 80% of the bedrooms are not like the ones in the pictures. They are in a relatively modern annex which is also a conference centre?. The breakfast room is also located in the new annex. The (im guessing 70 rooms plus) rooms are in a maze of corridors and ours had a very uninspiring view. I accept responsibility for the hotel not meeting my expectations, as I should have spent more time investigating the images of the bedrooms and realising that there is essentially two hotels here...one modern and one old. Unfortunately I was swept away with the beautiful pictures of the manor house and the 12 or so special rooms. The room was not cheap at c£270 a night and the hotel is located a drive from Bath itself. My advice..if you want to stay in a stunning building, make sure you book one of the premium rooms. If not, you are better off in a modern hotel in the centre of bath.

A warm, welcoming, spotlessly clean hotel in a beautiful setting. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Everything was supplied from toiletries to dressing gowns. The room was immaculate. It’s a downhill walk (5 minutes) to the bus stop (£2.50) that takes you in to Bath. The walk back up at the end of the day left me rather breathless due to my asthma but it’s not too bad. The room had air conditioning too which was very welcome for a short while early evening. Breakfast was excellent….a selection of continental food and you were able to order a freshly cooked breakfast of your choice. My only criticism was that the bed was too hard for me. But that’s personal preference.
