Holiday Inn Rugby-Northampton M1 Jct18 by IHG

The breakfast was great as far as the food was concerned, I couldn’t fault it. However the coffee machine only dispensed hot water. Disappointing.

The coffee machine in the room didn’t work. I booked a Premium room at a cost of £174 for the night but I wouldn’t pay this again. I expected a king size bed as advertised but only had a double. The paintwork in the hotel was of poor quality with brushmarks on fittings etc.. We had dinner in the restaurant and waited over half an hour for food, and when it eventually arrived it was insipid and disappointing. We felt sorry for the excellent staff as there clearly weren’t enough of them, and they were rushed off their feet and struggling to cope so we didn’t make a fuss. On the plus side, there’s a great fitness centre and pool which were well equipped and clean. We’ve stayed at other Holiday Inns before and they were great, but this one needs some attention to raise the standard.

the only negative is that the entrance could do with a refresh, it's a bit imposing when you arrive due to the extra security on the door. Made me feel a little vulnerable given it was late and dark.

Good value and my son loved the fact there were rabbits all around the grounds

The jacuzzi wasn’t working

Expensive and a little disorganised for functions. Not enough bar staff on.

As a family of four, the standard room with two double beds was better than a Premier Inn family room (where our two kids argue over who gets the 'spare' bed). Pool, jacuzzi, sauna were great (saunas are in changing rooms so are single sex). Based on other reviews, we didn't eat dinner here, but breakfast was great, lots of choice (vegan options included).

Our room could have done with a lick of paint, looking a little tired in places. That wouldn't stop me staying again though.

The hotel was great for our visit to crick boat show. Great we could take our little dog with us. The room was great. Been better if we had a bath. Aircon was fab because we had a heat wave while we were there.

The barman looked sad he never smiled or chatted to the customers. Maybe he was shy. Breakfast and evening meal was included in the price. Breakfast buffet was good but our second morning was a bit chaotic think they were short staffed. The inclusive evening meal had a very sad limited menu. 3 course meal that was actually very good but the choice for main meal was very poor. But the food was very good. Pate starter was beautiful.

Aircon broke, as we'd booked it solely for the aircon they refunded half our stay. Rest of the hotel was amazing. Will be visiting again.
