The view is heavenly and the host is such a nice person

In the heart of the Katpana Desert, I was surprised to find the WiFi facilities, with Baltistan Fort being the sole spot with internet access. However what truly amazed me was the lush green plantation nearby. The owner proudly shared his success in cultivating cherry, apricot and walnut tress and his plans to expand to other fruit tress. Witnessing apricots and grapes thriving in the desert was a delightful sight. The owner also proudly shared that their resort is a zero-carbon initiative, built using traditional Tibetan methods with local mud and straw as primary materials. Notable for every bag of cement used in the construction, they offset the impact by planting a tree in other parts Baltistan. Over all it was a lovely stay with clean rooms and especially neat washrooms. Yes we also liked the soup, a speciality of Baltistan Fort, Skardu. We are looking forward to visit this beautiful resort again with our friends.

As we stayed with our family, we didn't find anything which we didn't like ...rather we all family had a great stay at Baltistan Fort, Skardu.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Baltistan Fort in Skardu! From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The rooms were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated with a traditional touch that perfectly blends comfort and culture. The view from the fort is simply breathtaking — surrounded by majestic mountains and serene landscapes that make every moment peaceful and memorable. A special mention goes to the owner, *Rashid Sami*, who was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. He even gave me a personal tour of Skardu city, which made the experience even more special. His deep knowledge of the area and his genuine care for guests truly stood out. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe, respected, and well cared for — something that’s very important when exploring new regions. The entire environment was peaceful, respectful, and full of positive energy. The staff was attentive, warm, and always ready to assist. Baltistan Fort is not just a place to stay, it’s an experience that leaves you feeling enriched and connected. I can’t wait to come back!

Everything was great about this place.

Stunning views and extremely courteous owner and very helpful staff.

The power went out every night and we couldn't get a restful sleep as the hotel was not sufficiently stocked up on fuel to run the back-up generators. It runs on solar power and could perhaps use an extra battery. The room had only one standing fan and a small window for ventilation. It became unbearable since Skardu weather has started getting hotter than ever. The staff were helpful enough to provide us with an extra fan but once your sleep is disturbed due to an extended power outage, the next day is ruined.

Enormous support of the owner and the staff to get our transport challenges solved when our flight from Skardu to Islamabad got cancelled. Unique location in a desert with special design of the building. Spacious room with good shower. Fabulous views on the mountains, the desert and the stars.

Our room was too hot to have a decent night sleep and the fan could not compensate due to erratic electricity supply that night.

Thé resort is located in a great environment with fabulous views on the mountains. Spacious and clean rooms. Very friendly service from all staff. We were helped tremendously.by the manager when it turned out that are luggage did not arrive with our flight in Skardu and when we had difficulty changing local currency. Great service!

the place is 15 minutes away from the city, so it's far from the crowds and has amazing views both at night and in the morning. I really enjoyed the silence, which was exactly what I was looking for. The owner is very kind and helpful; he offered us pick-up and drop-off from the airport, as well as daily excursions at unbeatable prices compared to others. A 5-star chef, and truly, you will feel at home.

Great location and host, beautiful vibes!

The facilities, staff and food were excellent. Good value for money. The owner, Mr.Rashid Sami himself, supervises the operations, and he ensures the comfort level of the guests staying in the property. Above all the location is wonderful. It gives you a feeling like staying in an Oasis in the middle of a desert 🏜.

Nothing to dislike

I had an amazing experience at Baltistan Fort, owned and crafted by Rashid Sami. The property is a work of art—every detail, from the architecture to the decor, is thoughtfully curated, giving it a unique and special charm. The views are simply breathtaking: Karakoram on the right, Himalayas on the left, and the Indus weaving magic right in front. At night, stargazing here is an unforgettable treat. The location is peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle, yet conveniently close to the airport. Rashid Sami’s hospitality was exceptional—he didn’t even ask for an advance deposit and gave us the flexibility to decide once we arrived. He also offered complimentary airport pickup and drop-off, and his car was available to take us to nearby restaurant multiple times. Despite Skardu’s usual WiFi challenges, Baltistan Fort had a decent connection, and the property runs entirely on solar power, so we had zero power cuts. Hot water is usually available only in the morning, but they made sure to provide it twice daily upon our request. Being next to a glamp site meant we had easy access to their restaurant with variety of food, which could also be delivered right to our room. On our last day, Rashid Sami organized a cozy bonfire and treated us to special local buckwheat soup—complimentary and a perfect farewell. The owner lives on the property, making it super easy to reach out for anything, and we had some lovely conversations with him about his work in art, theatre, and film. His hospitality and the warm atmosphere of Baltistan Fort made this trip truly memorable. Highly recommend this beautiful place for an unforgettable experience!
