Hotel Hanaya

Nice central location, not far from the station. The room was spacious, and we heard no noise from other guests. The breakfast (both Japanese and Western) was really delicious. We could leave our luggage in the hotel, while we were hiking the Kumano Kodo, for a small fee, and that went without any problem. The host first appeared a bit unfriendly, but that was more likely due to the language barrier The beds were very comfortable (a bit hard, but that did not bother us).

The breakfast was included but the earliest we could eat was 7 am. Would rather have eaten earlier for an earlier start time catch our bus to Takajiri Oji.

Before I set off on my Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, I stayed one night at the Hotel Hanaya. It is perfectly located, right near the bus and train station. So you don't have to go far. I didn't enjoy breakfast, but there is a 7/11 at the train station. The internet was stable, the room was big enough and clean. The whole hotel is a bit old-fashioned, but that didn't bother me. Check-in is only from 4 p.m., please note.
