The Alverbank Hotel

I enjoyed my stay here, staff were lovely, evening meal good and top marks for breakfast.

Staff (1 girl in particular) were very attentive and clearly cared. Disappointment was a few areas, room clearly smelt like animals, as did the restaurant (we didn’t realise this was a pet friendly hotel) no mirror in bedroom was a bit annoying, milk for the tea/ coffee was out of date.

Noisy fan in bathroom running constantly , bed very hard

Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I was in the hotel bar area for an event in the afternoon, and this again was well done with friendly staff. Breakfast was fine and didn't feel mass-produced - nice breakfast menu (though all I wanted was toast and cereal... :-) )

Only negative point is that a staff member tried to enter the room before I'd gone done to breakfast when I was still getting ready. Clearly just a mistake.

Gorgeous old building with lots of character. Dining room has fab views. Room was spacious.

No iron/ironing board. No desk/table or chair - just a bed. However when I asked for a table and comfortable chair these were brought to me.
