The Whittling House

Food not great. Ordered ribeye which was good but arrived in a pool of giant baked beans. Prices extortionate for food supplied. Staff were lovely but got impression that they were only trying to keep they're job.

We were struggling to find a dog friendly place in Alnmouth for a sandwich. We came across the Whittling House and ordered a couple of sandwiches and coffees. Both were really good, the coffee had flavour and the sandwiches were beautiful, not your standard two sliced slapped over a few bits of salad. I had the BLT and it was served on Italian style bread with veggie crisps and a lovely coleslaw. Our dog was made most welcome too. Would definitely resvisit next time.

Central, nice quiet room.

Over priced @£498 for two nights.

Very conveniently situated on the main street, homely and welcoming. Very quiet at night despite the central location. Restaurant food was excellent. Staff were lovely: after we had checked out our car broke down on the street outside, they gave us free coffee and offers of food - they were really helpful whilst we waited for the RAC to come to sort us out

Restaurant bench seats were a bit low for smaller people - maybe more cushions would sort that out. Breakfast options were large and tasty but maybe needs a bit more variety with regard to cereal and toast.

Erster Eindruck: Freundlicher Empfang und ein besonders hübsches Zimmer. Zweiter Eindruck: Eine Illy-Espresso-Maschine - so guten Kaffee hatte ich seit 2 Wochen nicht mehr. Dritter Eindruck: Endlich einmal eine Steckdose im Badezimmer, weshalb die Bartstoppeln wegkommen können. Vierter Eindruck: Das Abendessen schmeckt gut.

Leider hat dann die Nachtruhe nicht mithalten können, denn die Zwischenwände sind sehr dünn und der Holzdielenboden knarrt bei jedem Schritt. Und Parkplätze scheinen in der Hauptstraße des Ortes eher Glückssache zu sein.

Gute Lage, sehr feines Essen und sehr gutes Frühstück. Aufmerksames Personal und persönliche Atmosphäre.

Room 7 is lovely. A pleasing village with good beach walks. Very helpful staff and great food.

Car parking is tricky
