The Whittling House

We have stayed at this hotel lots of times. We always get the same lovely experience. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We always bring our dog and appreciate that the dog friendly rooms are in a different part of the hotel and tables in the restaurant have space around them. This puts us at ease that we are giving guests that don’t wish to be near dogs, plenty of space.

Stunning location, rooms well decorated and cosy. Staff really friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent!

Not much parking but this wasn’t an issue for us as we managed to find spaces on the street. Could be difficult in busy summer months.

Couldn’t fault it

Just back from a super stay at The Whittling House in Alnmouth. The accommodation was lovely with a generous room including a fabulous rainfall shower and seated area to relax. We really appreciated the little touches such as home made biscuits each day with our tea and coffee making facilities. What made our stay outstanding was the food! Both at breakfast and notably in the evening, the menu was varied, high quality and delicious. My partner and I chose different fish dishes which we thoroughly enjoyed and will remember for some time to come. We enjoyed our first evening's menu so much we booked again! Another high point of the visit was the lovely staff. They could not do enough to make our stay more enjoyable and were the right balance of being friendly and chatty without intruding. Definitely a place we would have no hesitation in revisiting! Thank you.

Very clean, excellent food in the evenings. I would particularly like to mention Jill and Gillian who gave us excellent service during breakfast times and couldn’t be any more helpful.

Room 8 had a slight smell of drains which was a little unpleasant but we were moved to another room with no issues

Breakfast was reasonable - not great

Place is in need of redecoration. It’s tatty. Not that clean. And not in any way stylish. I paid £350 for 2 nights - not good value for money. One of the staff was grumpy and made me feel I was wasting her time asking questions.
