The Whittling House

Perfect location on lovely town close to the beach. Plenty of public transport. Comfortable and cosy hotel, very friendly and helpful staff and delicious breakfast.

Lovely clean room with king bed and sofa bed in a separate living area. Suited our needs perfectly.

Very nice hotel in general, and with comfortable rooms, delightful staff and good food in the restaurant. However, and be warned; it's like spending your (quite expensive) holiday in a dog kennel. Dogs everywhere; barking in the adjacent bedroom, whining and barking in the bar and restaurant, fighting in the corridors; just totally unacceptable. The presence of dogs is inescapable. The perceived risk by the hotel's management of offending the owners of unruly dogs now appears to take precedence over complaints made by those of us who would prefer not to drink, dine and sleep in the close proximity of dogs. Car parking is not good either. Street parking is at a premium and the hotel's car park will accommodate only three medium sized cars. Good as the location is, we will not be returning to the Whittling House. The parking challenge is at least manageable but the dogs are not. The current (commercially-driven) obsession with 'dog friendliness' is alienating the small majority of people like myself who prefer human company to that of dogs.

This is the second time we have stayed at The Whittling House and we enjoyed as much this time as we did the first. The team are lovely very warm and make you feel at home which is very nice.

Fabulous staff,very pleasant- especially Lucy !very clean and comfortable rooms,service throughout was spot on and the food we had was amazing- never had Fish and Chips like it ! Exceptional !

Parking was a bit of a problem until we realised their Hotel has their own Car Park

Had a 2 night stay with our 2 dogs & dined in the restaraunt both nights. Our spacious room on the 2nd floor was lovely. Cosy bar area & comfortable dog friendly restaurant area. Staff were very welcoming to both us & our dogs. The beach & dunes are a short walk away. Parking could be a problem, spaces for 3 residents cars at the back of hotel, otherwise street parking. Overall an enjoyable stay.
