The Whittling House

Alles eigentlich hervorragend. Freundlicher Empfang, tolles Frühstück. LastminuteBuchung für das Restaurant am Abend war auch kein Problem.

Zimmer 8 war arg stickig und ließ sich auch nicht über Nacht nennenswert abkühlen.

Room was exceptional

Tight stairs and difficulty of access. Restaurant was OK with evening meal mediocre.

Food was good. We enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. Staff were friendly

Room was pretty small and super warm. We got a fan which helped a bit. Main issue was our room window opened onto maybe the heating unit or kitchen outside so had constant hum of extractor fans. Given it was too hot to shut the window it meant we didn’t sleep that well.

Visited last night as the sister restaurant had been recommended but didn’t have any availability. We really weren’t disappointed. Greeted by very friendly staff who were very attentive. Had the Chowder, Pork Belly Bite and Gyro’s for starters - all of which were piping hot and delicious. For mains we went for the Sea Bass, Haddock & Chips, and the Chicken Burger. Again, all were piping hot, really nicely presented, and tasted delicious. Only complaint would be the food was so good that we couldn’t manage desserts which was a shame because the choice looked amazing. However my daughter was desperate to try the Apple Tart and the very friendly waitress did her a take away portion. All in all a very pleasant experience and would definitely go back next time we’re in the area.

Just stayed the one night whilst on a walking trip. The hotel is very pleasant with a quiet peaceful atmosphere. The room (No8) was a quirky smallish twin room, but very nicely decorated. We had an evening meal, (in the Dog Free area) which was very good indeed, and the following morning had a great breakfast - smoked Trout & Scrambled Eggs. The staff were all very good, very pleasant and helpful. We have booked to return for a couple of nights in Sept

I chose the twin room, which was compact, but there were nice chairs to sit on, everything was spotless and the shower room was spacious and very clean. The staff were all very kind and friendly. Internet was good too. Sat Nav got me to outside the hotel, but the tiny lane to the back of the hotel was difficult to see as I was onnmy own. On my third drive round the one way system I gave up and found a parking place and just walked. The food was tasty and well presented.
