Tay Beach Hotel Tayrona

The hotel is nice and has a lot of potential, but some parts are unfinished. The location is great and decorations are beautiful. The staff in the restaurant is very friendly and willing to help in any way they can.

We had a bad experience in the hotel, the property knew there was a macro festival next to the hotel the nights we booked our "relax" stay but they did not let us know in advance. During the stay WiFi only worked in the reception and sometimes in the restaurant, there were constant electricity and water cuts, air conditioning was not working correctly either, some rooms did not have mosquito nets. One of the days after 7pm the room hadn't been cleaned and we had to complain, there was a water polo net during all our stay in the pool which no one was using but still was there. The music from the macro festival was loud and continuous during the night, we weren't able to sleep and windows were trembling from the loudness. When we complained about our terrible experience in the property they offered us a deduction of the price equivalent to the servers' tip which for us was an offense since our problem was with the property management and not the workers which were very friendly. Their only solution was to give us a small discount on the consumption in the hotel (15% off and then added a 10% tip) but nothing from the room prices which due to the macro festival were more expensive than usual.

I don’t even know where to begin. Firstly for the astronomical prices and selling this as a luxury hotel, it was far from it. I stayed at a hostel in Minca prior to coming here that felt for luxurious. There was no internet in the rooms, one hair dryer for the entire place, it barely worked. No hangers for clothes. One iron for entire venue. The room was filled with mosquitos and finally after my daughter was eaten alive a kind staff member offered a mosquito net and to bug bomb the room. We paid at check in and paid again at check out as is standard. After leaving the hotel said they had missed charging us a portion of our bill. We said we’d review it as we believed we’d settled up, after which we were repeatedly harassed while trying to enjoy the remainder of our holiday. Obviously we’re happy to settle it up but wanted a chance to have a look as it was a substantial charge they were claiming we owed. Food was average.
