Igabara Hobbit House

Tranquil location, very quiet, romantic and private - we had a perfect stay here during our honeymoon. Set in a stunning village, the hosts are incredibly warm and hospitable, they sorted out tuktuks and a kayak for us to explore the neighbouring lagoon. Fantastic food, we were left stuffed everyday!

The Igabara Hobbit House was everything we dreamed of and more! We were kindly upgraded to the option with a private pool and it was the best hotel on our trip (probably ever) and we will fondly remember our stay here. The owner had thought of everything from the detail in the beach bag to the amazing breakfast we were served in our private dining area every morning. It’s the perfect location for a quieter more peaceful beach stay in Tangalle with delicious seafood restaurants near by (Happy Beach Sea View Cabin Restaurant was our favourite). A must stay, 100/10 !!!

We had a fantastic time at this hotel. Everything was perfect, but what really made our stay special was the owner. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days. The atmosphere was cozy, and we enjoyed every minute. We will definitely be back! 10/10 recommended.

We stayed two nights at this villa with our family and had a wonderful time. The location is perfect, just 1”5 minutes from the beach, yet very quiet and relaxing. The villa was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with everything we needed. The Owner were kind and welcoming, which made our stay even better. A great place for families — highly recommended

My wife and I stayed one night at the Igabara Hobbit House in Rakawa, and it was such a unique and memorable experience. The design of the house is truly special — it feels like stepping into a storybook, with its charming hobbit-style architecture and cozy atmosphere. The attention to detail in the construction and decoration makes the place stand out, and we really enjoyed the creativity behind it. The location is peaceful and surrounded by nature, which gave us a sense of calm and relaxation from the moment we arrived. It was the perfect escape from busy life, and we loved the privacy the place offered. Inside, the hobbit house was clean, comfortable, and well set up with everything we needed for our stay. The hosts were very warm and welcoming, making sure we felt at home. They were attentive but also gave us our space to enjoy the experience. The surrounding area in Rakawa is beautiful as well, and being close to the beach was an added bonus. Even though it was just a one-night stay, it left a lasting impression on us. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to return for a longer visit. We highly recommend the Igabara Hobbit House to anyone looking for something different, magical, and unforgettable.

The room was a refresing in our journey through sri lanka. Not only is it very unique but also is it the most comfortable bed I've slept in so far. Its completely private as you can close your gate. The host and his family are each amazing people who really want to go the extra mile to make your stay unforgettable! 10/10 would recommend!

It is one of the best places we have stayed. Very unique concept. The bed was big. All facilities were available. Looks like a family business. Meals were very tasty and big portions. The staff was excellent. We wish them good luck.

We loved everything!!! From the moment we arrived everything was just wonderful. Hiroshan is such a great host - nothing is too much trouble. He brought us some delicious complementary lime drinks, arranged our onward travel to Udawalawe and gave lots of great recommendations. The Hobbit House is so cute but has all the mod cons you could want - fridge, fully plumbed indoor bathroom, TV, and the largest bed I've ever seen. It was our 25th wedding anniversary while we were there and they had decorated the bed beautifully for us. The breakfast in our own private dining area was stunning (they also offer dinner but we wanted to explore the local area). I loved hanging out in our hammock and we felt we had complete privacy (especially as we were in No 3 at the end). It's a 15 minute interesting walk onto the most beautiful Beach at Rekawa where you can find a number of restaurants and the Turtle Conservation Centre. We were sad to only have 2 nights here.
