Ranfurly Hotel

Room was excellent, beds comfy and clean.

Food in restaurant was awful. Obviously staffing is a huge problem in restaurants and hotels at the moment, especially in remote locations. We found other places to eat. I see a huge potential in this hotel. Needs a chef/staff to run a great kitchen. In my opinion locals appear to have given up on Ranfurly. Places are either closed or for sale. Needs a good shot in the arm somehow. Has tremendous buildings and huge potential.

This was a great location and a fabulous old building. For simple country pub accommodation, the rooms exceeded expectations. Bonus - the very friendly cat who jumped through my window to say hi and the lovely lady who appeared to be "Jill of all trades" and came to our table for a chat and offer to put the heating on in the dining room for us the next morning during breakfast. What a gorgeous lady!

It is a shame that the restaurant was not operating. We were doing the Otago rail trail and would have preferred to have a nice meal rather than just bar snack type food.
