ウォーターゲート鹿児島

This place is seriously underrated! It was the best hotel my wife and I have stayed at in Japan. Not only was it very affordable but the facilities, staff, amenities, customer service were 10/10. The food was delicious and room service was quick. We rented a karaoke machine for the night and it was so much fun and it was FREE! We initially were not aware that this was a “Love Hotel” but could not have been more pleased from the experience. These kinds of hotels get a bad rap for what they are but it was by far the nicest and most enjoyable room we have stayed at.

It was absolutely amazing. Nothing bad to say.

Big rooms but the catch is that it’s a love hotel! I didn’t feel comfortable.

Very spacious room, with big bathroom and bathtub with jacuzzi. Amenities are great. On top of minibar, you can find oven, small vending machine, hair straightener, etc in your room. Free flow drink bar (hot and cold), cocktails and desserts at lobby. Free flow of bath salt and toiletries at lobby. All day free VOD (Video on Demand). Value for money as the price includes breakfast which will be served to your room. The hotel provides ear drip coffee bag which is a plus for coffee lovers as most hotels in Japan only provides tea bag.

The hotel is old..

Approaching it by public transport is horror: one bus (number 12 from the station) goes there once or twice in an hour. Then 500 meter on foot among industrial buildings. The hotel is shabby but clean. It is a real experience because it is a love hotel. Beer is free, girls on the menu card.

It was ok as a one night stopover. Bit different.

We didn't realize it was a love hotel. No lift from the parking so we had to carry heavy suitcases up 2 flights of stairs.

- Amazing view - Largest hotel room ever, especially considering that it's in Japan. - Furnishings: Large TV, sofa, bathroom, etc. - Free drinks in the lobby 24/7 (beer, spirits etc.) - Very comfortable large bed - Ambient music system - Very affordable for what you get

- Since it's a love hotel, when you leave your room, it locks automatically and you have to let the staff know every time you need to get in. - It's located relatively far from anything else in the city, in the middle of the industrial part of the port. If you aren't getting there by car, it take 30m of walking prior to getting to somewhere interesting.
