Surf Beach Hotel

My days in Augam Bay at Surf Beach Hotel made most of my Sri Lankan journey: the owners (Deen and family), accomodation closed to the sea, surf classes with Deen and his staff, local people, sea and jungle, wonderful spot.. They all stole my heart. I spent more days than it was expected in Arugam Bay, surely because of the lovely atmosphere of this guest house, able to connect you immediately with the local life and people. Nice rooms, very clean and quiet in the night. If you need something (advices on food/places, laundry, surf/yoga/whatever classes, nightlife, chilling,..) just ask Deen and he will surely help you as much as possible, making you feeling like home. Thank you for the lovely time, looking forward to be back at your place soon!

everything! Deen and Farook were such amazing, the breakfast is delicious, all fresh made when order. they are so nice. we stayed in a room with AC, the water pressure was something really great after a few weeks in sri lank with some bathbrooms not so nice It was just the best accomodation! congrats on teh place

We spent five days with Deen in July 2023 and would highly recommend Deen, his accommodation and his team of instructors. Arugam Bay has quite a few people offering surf instruction but we had read good reviews for both Deen's tuition and his accommodation. We were a family of 4 with differing degrees of surfing ability. I think it is often the little things that make quite a big difference to how successful a holiday is. Some of the key little things with Deen were : > He was concerned that my daughter might burn easily with her pale skin and loaned her a rash vest > He works with a team of trusted local Tuk Tuk drivers to take the students and boards out to the beaches with the best conditions for the day and the students ability. > He changes the boards through the week as your skill levels improve. My daughter started on a generic foam board and ended up on a 6'2 hard board with others in between. > My son had the misfortune to need sutures ( no fault of Deen's ) and Deen made sure that one of the instructors and a Tuk Tuk driver came with us to the hospital to make sure that we were seen quickly. Deen is both realistic and adaptable. He tends to do an early session and a late session. Both tend to be 1.5 - 2 hours on the water ( which is plenty ). The early session can start anywhere between 6am and 8am depending upon the conditions and the students preferences. For those staying at his accommodation there is the option of a very welcome coffee before departure:-) Deen and his instructors are very attentive. They typically spend the whole session literally in the water helping the students catch good waves, typically in a ration of 1:3 which worked well as it does take time to get back out to the start point. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend Deen and his team.

Payment by card would be useful but this is an issue everywhere in Sri Lanka

We had an amazing stay here, the place was right on the beach and the rooms look really good. The owner is super friendly, he was bringing us a juice everyday, cleaned in front of the room daily & helped us with everything. We would love to come back here when we are in Arugambay!

Very cool and lovely Host. We liked him a lot. He makes great smoothies, juices and breakfasts all by himself. A bit sandy in the room, but that's normal because of the beach nearby. You can walk to it in 2 Minutes.

Good comfortable and value for money. Good restaurants and shops up this end of town and at night you can sleep in peace and quiet. Other options south have bars and traffic with loud music right next to your room, which is fun except when you need to sleep! Also the bed and pillows were the best compared to other places.

The host's name is Deen and my name is Dean, I heard my name too much so I think he should change his name for my convenience. Hahaha jokes! it's a good vibe.

the manger is such a nice and kind person! also the staff! the rooms are very clean and has a good vibes. really close to a cute coffee shop and the beach! very recommended
